American scientists have developed a device that allows to convert a diamond into graphite. Experts say that the device is based on an X-ray emitter with a high power, which increases the speed of natural processes by several times.
Diamond and graphite are composed of certain substances, including carbon. However, they also have some differences, for example, transparency. Differences are observed due to the fact that there are different amounts of impurities in the rocks. If the diamond is placed in a device with a high temperature and pressure, you can force the atoms to change their packaging. Scientists say that the transformation of a diamond into graphite takes place in a few minutes.
For conversion, you can use not only a laser beam, but also an oven. Experts reported that the best effect should be used X-ray luminescence. This luminescence will allow carbon not only to change its state, but also to increase the process speed several times. During this process, specialists were able to see the transformation of a diamond into graphite and fix the scale of this process. To do this, scientists used a laser FERMI. Note that this technology can be used in the future.
