Every year smart phones become more powerful and perfect. But, at the same time, they are beginning to gradually become boring to the public. Even the newest gadgets seem to be insufficiently innovative and too boring. However, there are a couple of innovative technologies that could be enjoyed by even the most demanding audience.

Flexible smartphone
We have repeatedly written about the technology of flexible displays. Samsung started developing it in 2013. At the same time, a working prototype of a folding display was demonstrated.
Alas, the presentation was all limited. For several years, there have been rumors on the network that Samsung is preparing to release a bent smartphone. They still go. For example, recently on the Internet, information leaked about the smartphone Samsung Galaxy X, which will be able to bend in the middle. But a little later the experts denied this information. The smartphone, which was mistakenly mistaken for the Galaxy X, is likely to be just another Samsung model, designed for extreme sports. And it will not be bending, but rubberized for greater reliability.
Thus, at the moment there is no reason to believe that in 2018, Samsung or anyone else will launch a bent smartphone on the market.
Meanwhile, Samsung is one of the few manufacturers that already have in stock a set of relevant developments and patents. If the company just wanted, it could release a smartphone that not only bends, but even folds into a tube. And, she could have done it a couple of years ago. But, it seems, Samsung's management simply prefers not to take risks.
Of course, it is difficult to judge in advance how much the market would accept a flexible smartphone. But such a model, certainly, would become a breath of fresh air amidst the dominance of monoblock monoblocks. Therefore, experts consider such an innovation to be one of the most demanded and expected. It's a pity that in 2018 we are unlikely to see it.

Fingerprint reader behind the display
The fingerprint scanner, located right behind the glass of the display, would appeal to all users without exception. In recent years, developers have shoved it wherever possible. The scanner was placed inside the Home button, instead of the Home button, inside the side power button, on the front panel, on the rear panel. And each of the options had its own shortcomings.
Front of the scanner occupies the useful area of the front panel. Behind - it's hard to find a finger. Located inside the buttons, the scanner is threatened with breakdowns and additional difficulties in repair. In the new iPhone X, Apple decided to completely abandon the fingerprint scanner in favor of the face recognition system. But such a decision did not please the users.
In general, the ideal place for a fingerprint scanner could be considered space behind the display. I mean, right under the glass of the screen. True, until recently, the scanner under the display was not technically possible. Manufacturers who experimented with this design noted a drop in sensor accuracy. But the solution is finally found.
According to the latest reports, the Chinese manufacturer of smartphones OnePlus intends to equip its next flagship OnePlus 6 with a fingerprint scanner, which is located behind the display. If this is true, OnePlus 6 may be the first flagship smartphone in 2018 to support this technology. However, after this, other manufacturers will not be long in coming. The probability of this innovation in 2018 can be assessed as very high.
