American scientists have created a miniature recording device, which is about 10 trillion times smaller than the person's ear, but at the same time is not inferior to it in sensitivity, RIA Novosti reported.
The "recipe" for its assembly was published in the journal Science Advances.
"Our nano-membranes not only have a very high sensitivity for their size and weight, but they consume very little energy and almost do not" rustle. " Ultimately, they will allow us to create devices that work equally well with clean and powerful signals, and with a high level of noise, "said Philip Feng of the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, USA.
Almost all modern digital gadgets include miniature microphones, accelerometers and pressure sensors, whose dimensions are ten times smaller than those of human eardrums and other living things. Such devices, built on the basis of so-called microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), quite well perceive sound, but are characterized by low accuracy of operation and sensitivity.
