Scientists from the US found a topological order in artificial spin ice - a collection of nanoparticles of oblong form, located in a two-dimensional lattice of shakti. According to physicists, they were the first to discover such phases in classical systems, and not in quantum systems.
Artificial sets, such as artificial spin ice, were previously found exclusively outside the functioning of the thermodynamic theory. In quantum physics, there are other rules that do not conform to Newton's laws. Scientists refer crystals to ordered substances, and gases to disordered ones. According to experts, the transfer of topological effects to thermodynamics entails the possibility of conducting additional studies in artificial spin ice.
