A team of scientists from Austria, China and the US, led by Professor Carnegie Mellon University, Linina Yao, was able to develop a method for printing on a 3D printer self-depositing items. The research was based on the properties of the innovative material polylactide.
Specialists emphasize that, as a rule, 3D printing is very slow. Especially it concerns the production of a particularly complex object. Polylactide and thermopolyurethane allow to create a flat figure, which when heated to a certain temperature starts to form in a certain object or part.
Previously, scientists need to perform calculations in order to predict what temperature, heating time and object dimensions should be selected. The authors of the study are confident that their technology will significantly reduce the cost of printing similar items in the future. Now they are already working on creating more voluminous objects.
Earlier, we wrote that Korean scientists have created a 3D printer for printing delicious food. The researchers argue that the finished objects do not lose taste and are absolutely safe.
