The Japanese start-up King Jim opened a fundraiser for the production of a folding typewriter. The idea around the pomera is to give users a portable device with a monochrome screen and a folding QWERY keyboard that they can carry around and start typing at any time.
While the device exists at the stage of a working prototype. In Japan, the DM30, which is funded by Kickstarter, is coming out next month.
If the company does not manage to collect $ 90 thousand for the remaining 29 days (while a little more than $ 10 thousand is involved), the machine will not appear on the international market.
King Jim produces pocket typewriters for about ten years. One of the first models, released in 2008, was equipped with 128 kilobytes of memory and a 4-inch VGA-display. Novelty, DM30, has a 6-inch panel in electronic ink (E Ink) with a resolution of SVGA (800x600), 8 GB of internal memory and a USB 2.0 port.
Two AA batteries should be enough for 20 hours of operation. The typed text can be quickly transferred to a smartphone or computer by scanning a QR code or connecting a microSD card. Weighs about 450 grams of pomera without batteries.

Serial production of the pomera DM30 is scheduled for October. Deliveries will begin in November. At retail, the machine will be sold for 55,000 yen (~ $ 499), but Kickstarter users can pre-order for 38,500 yen ($ 349).
