Several samples on one technology are able to perform actions and make popcorn from corn.
Created a popcorn powered robot. Its modification provides for several complete sets, which were demonstrated by scientists from Cornell University. "Robotic drives controlled by popcorn" are fully operational, so we should pay tribute to Stephen Caron, who is the first author of this article. The presentation of the technology was made at the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation in May.
American engineers suggested using corn grains expansion as a driving force for robots. They created several working prototypes in which the heated grains expand and cause the actuator to flex. The choice of corn was not accidental, since popcorn kernels are a natural, edible and inexpensive material that can expand rapidly with high force when using heat
