A group of scientists from the University of Technology Annes has developed a neural network that will build the fastest bicycle in the world. Artificial intelligence of thousands of options selects the appropriate form and gives advice on how to create the most aerodynamic transport. This is written by The Verge.
The previous record of the speed of cycling was set by German Sebastian Bainer - the athlete managed to accelerate to 133.78 km / h on a bike, the shape of which resembled a small ground-based rocket.
Since then, researchers have not been able to detect a shape that would have more aerodynamics. The solution was proposed by the French physicists from the Laboratory of Computer Vision École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausann 's. Scientists have developed a neural network, trained in understanding three-dimensional objects and their aerodynamic properties. Artificial intelligence is able to sort out a large number of forms and automatically select from them those that represent the best aerodynamic profile.
The neural network will allow us to create objects whose aerodynamics will be 5-20% higher than existing models. The program allows you to find a solution in cases where conventional design methods do not work. The forms offered by artificial intelligence are often different from the standard ones - this gives us greater flexibility in creating vehicles.
Scientists will present a neural network at an international conference on machine learning in Stockholm, and then allocate the technology to a separate company called Neural Concept.
