International Data Corporation (IDC) conducted research on the world market for smart home devices and presented results for the second quarter of this year.
IDC estimates that around 130.1 million devices for "smart" homes were sold globally from April to June. Compared to the second quarter of 2017, when about 93.9 million units were sold, the difference was an impressive 38.5%.
The company during the study looked at sales of smart TVs, monitoring and security systems, lighting devices, speakers with an intelligent voice assistant, etc.
Analysts talk about the high demand for television multimedia adapters. Deliveries of this type of gadgets on an annualized basis increased by 26.8%. Also, sales of speakers with built-in voice assistants are steadily growing.
According to forecasts, in the coming years, the demand for intelligent lighting systems will increase substantially, as well as home monitoring and security tools.
